When we think about texts from the late medieval and early modern period, works of historical significance and enlightened religious writings come to mind. It's easy to forget that people were always like us, but people have always shitposted!
As part of doing Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), I've gotten to read and study texts from the 14th, 15th and 16th century. In this short talk, I want to introduce you to the hobby of HEMA and show you some of the greatest memes and shitposts by some of the greatest and most eccentric fencing masters history remembers.
