In this workshop I will give a basic introduction to git, and how it works. Pretty much everyone has maybe heard about git; I will talk about how it works, and how you can use it to contribute to the software community. The focus will be on the absolute basics, from the first commit on how branches work to pushing to a remote.
We will explore git, interactively. This means you should bring a device with git installed on it if you plan to attend. We will be using the commandline; do not be afraid of it, even as an an absolute beginner, we will brave it together. We all start somewhere; I taught it to myself, thus I hope I can now teach others. We will start with a short info on what git is and what to use/not use it for, and then dive into the world of commits, branches and remotes.
